Where is Heritance Kandalama? Bawa architecture beside the lake
Heritance Kandalama is a resort on the shores of Kandalama Lake, near Dambulla in central Sri Lanka. It lies in the Cultural Triangle, close to visits such as Sigiriya Rock and the Dambulla cave temples. It is an appealing base for combining World Heritage sightseeing with time at the hotel.

The hotel was designed by Sri Lanka’s renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa. Its architecture brings the forest and lake scenery into the building, creating openness and a connection with nature. Looking through large windows and exploring the changing light and views make the stay part of the journey itself.

The owl sculpture in the atrium is another memorable feature. The infinity pool, which appears to merge with the lake, is also a highlight. The hotel appeals to admirers of Bawa’s architecture and anyone who wants to unwind in natural surroundings.
