［PickUp］Thanks to Indika, it wasn’t just a sightseeing trip—it became a colorful, unforgettable journey!
From October 14 to 18, we took a five-day trip to Sri Lanka as a couple. We used the standard plan with an English-speaking driver and were greatly looked after by Indika.
Route:
Negombo → 2) Sigiriya → 3) Kandy → 4) Nuwara Eliya → 5) Mirissa / Colombo
What moved us first was that the very first day happened to be my birthday, and a cake appeared during breakfast! While we were still delighted, we learned that Indika had contacted the hotel and arranged the surprise. He even gave me a cute elephant figurine—my heart was full.
We also had the chance to meet Indika’s family and were treated to his wife’s home cooking (the best meal we had in Sri Lanka!).
Throughout the trip he was a truly dependable presence:

We’d once been overcharged while traveling in another country, so we were a bit wary at first. But Indika always stayed calm and would say, “If it feels overpriced, let’s skip it.” When something seemed above the going rate or when a different place would be a better fit, he told us so—his sincerity made him someone we could truly trust.
Thanks to Indika, our trip became not just sightseeing but a richly memorable, colorful journey. Meeting him was part of what made it perfect. When we visit Sri Lanka again, we definitely want to request Indika.

Our driver, Indika, was also wonderfully kind to our young child. Our child became very attached to him—insisting that only Indika should help with getting in and out of the car—and Indika handled this warmly with a smile, which was a huge help.
When we asked to buy mangoes from a roadside stand, he carefully chose delicious ones from an affordable vendor. He even gifted us some unusual fruits along the way. During the drives, he answered many of our questions about daily life in Sri Lanka, and thanks to his support we were able to enjoy experiences we could not have had on our own. We are truly grateful.

He was always waiting ahead of the agreed time and consistently prioritized safe driving. He also introduced us to a wonderful tea shop and recommended enjoyable tours, including a safari and whale watching.
When my husband and I were taking time to choose tea, he kindly kept our children entertained and waited with us. He was always gentle and caring toward them, and they now say they want to return to Sri Lanka just to see Indika again. I feel the same.

Because Indika has a daughter himself, he was consistently kind and attentive to our elementary-school-aged daughter. During every transfer, he thoughtfully looked out for her, which created a calm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the trip.
Shortly before our visit, Sri Lanka experienced severe flooding due to heavy rains. In the mountainous areas around Nuwara Eliya and Kandy, we encountered difficult road conditions, including landslides and flooded sections. We were understandably a little anxious at times, but Indika’s excellent driving skills and composed judgment put us at ease. His steady driving and strong commitment to safety allowed us to relax and focus on the scenery and sightseeing.
He also provided outstanding support with itinerary management. Each day, he carefully confirmed the next day’s route and departure time with us. Every morning, he was punctual, waiting with a vehicle that was always clean and well prepared. Thanks to the schedule planning and guidance he suggested, we were able to make the most of our limited sightseeing time without feeling rushed.

For example, you always opened and closed the car doors for us, helped us with check-in, slowed down the car whenever we wanted to take photos of the scenery, and repeatedly checked to make sure we hadn’t forgotten anything. As punctual Japanese travelers, we were also very grateful that you were never late and always arrived at the meeting point on time.
The places you recommended were all truly wonderful, and we were able to spend such a lovely time everywhere we went.
